Overview
The Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction provides practicing teachers with the opportunity to develop deeper understanding of the technical and contextual needs of teaching and learning for today’s classrooms. Courses provide students with the knowledge and praxis of educational strategies, classroom-deployable research design, data analysis, and evaluation to transform the lives of learners. Leveraging decades of practitioner-oriented research and praxis, the program serves educators throughout their developmental journey.

- Illinois Reading Teaching Endorsement (K-12)
- Illinois Secondary Education Endorsement (9-12)
- Illinois Special Education Endorsement LBS-1 (PK-12)
Educators aiming to continue and refine strategies for learners may be interested in:
- Advanced Teaching Strategies (advanced online program)
Program Format
Classes in the curriculum and instruction program at SIUE are offered in flexible formats. In the fall and spring semesters, courses are offered in the evening. Summer courses are offered in various time frames and months. Courses are offered in various formats:
- In-person, blended/hybrid format
- Requires two to four campus visits
- Online synchronous
- Online asynchronous
Depending on the courses you choose, you may be able to complete your degree online.
